No data collected, transmitted, or shared

The short version

NoShorts Pro is a browser extension that hides YouTube Shorts. It has no servers, makes no network requests, and never sends your information anywhere. Everything it needs lives on your own device.

What is stored (locally only)

The extension saves the following in your browser via chrome.storage.local, on your device:

  • Your settings — on/off state, which areas to block, and your weekly goal.
  • Anonymous counters — Shorts blocked, daily history, streaks, and unlocked badges.

This data never leaves your device. It is not transmitted, backed up to any server, or synced by us.

What we never do

  • No personal data collection of any kind.
  • No tracking, no analytics, no advertising, no cookies.
  • No accounts, no sign-in, no email required.
  • No selling or sharing of data with anyone — there is none to sell.

Permissions & why

  • storage — to save your settings and statistics locally.
  • host access to youtube.com — so the extension can hide Shorts and redirect Shorts links. It runs on YouTube only and touches no other website.

All code ships inside the extension and runs locally. Nothing is loaded or executed from a remote source.

GDPR, CCPA & children

Because NoShorts Pro processes no personal data, there is nothing to access, export, correct, or delete on any server — and no consent banner is required. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data. The extension is safe for users of all ages and collects nothing from anyone.

Does it slow down YouTube?
No. The extension only runs while a YouTube tab is visible, its work is debounced and batched into a single animation frame, and it does nothing on any other site. You won't feel it.
Does it collect any data?
None. There are no servers and no network requests. Settings and counters stay in your browser's local storage on your device. See the Privacy Policy above.
What if I want Shorts back?
Toggle protection — or any individual area — off in the popup, and Shorts reappear within a second or two. No reload needed.
Does it work in the YouTube mobile app?
NoShorts Pro is a desktop browser extension for youtube.com in Chrome, Edge and Brave. It doesn't modify the native mobile apps. A Firefox build is on the way.
